Meet Jessi

Mom, Designer, Fantasy Reader, and lover of Red-Rock Country

I lived in Utah until age 13, then bounced around to Florida, Arizona, and Idaho. In 2005, I landed back in Utah and have been here ever since.

I’m a mom to 4 amazing kids and an adored Russian Blue kitty. When I’m not mom-ing or designing, you’ll find me on a trail, in the gym, in my basement pottery studio, or with my nose in a book.

A Designer with an Education Background

January 2005

I Fell in Love at the Exact Wrong Time

I took graphic a design class my last semester at BYU-Idaho. I loved it so much I considered changing my major and starting all over. But I decided to stick with Art Education and graduated a few months later. And, boy, am I glad I did!

What Teaching Taught Me

While teaching creative little humans in grades K-12 for many years I developed skills I now use every day as a designer.

I learned how to organize complicated processes, communicate clearly, and break big ideas down into bite-sized concepts.

I’m a stronger designer, clearer communicator, and better project manager because of my time in the classroom.

I designed and directed this mosaic project depicting a Utah elementary school. Over 800 students and faculty participated in decorating more than 1300 paper tiles.

Time for Graphic Design

But I never stopped designing. I studied on my own, worked on side projects, and kept feeding that creative hunger.

Then life handed me an opportunity for a change, and I knew it was time to finally pursue graphic design full time.

So I went all in.

After nearly a year of intensive study at Parsons School of Design at The New School in New York, I earned my
Graphic and Digital Design Certificate.

Living My Best Design Life

And now? I’m freelancing full time. I launched Jessi Wilcox Design in October 2025, and have enjoyed helping folks like you ever since.

I can do a bit of everything, but brand identity and logo design are my sweet spot. I’m passionate about taking the ideas, personality, and big ambitions behind a business and turning them into a visual identity that feels unmistakably theirs.

Change Takes a Village

And as a single mom and member of the queer community, I know that creating positive change can take a village. I find immense purpose in working with startups, charities, nonprofits, and small businesses that want to make a big impact. If that’s you, I’m glad you’re here.
